RECOMMENDED PERSONAL EQUIPMENT

This Medical Reserve Corps unit relies on its volunteers, and this economy does not allow many of the volunteers to go out and buy large amounts of equipment. We are keeping our required personal equipment to an absolute minimum.

Navy Blue BDU pants
Black Boots

Team Shirt
While the minimum equipment list is very small, we have a list of recommended equipment which will make your life as a Medical Reserve Corps member much easier and possibly more comfortable. This recommended list is for DEPLOYMENTS and activations, and is not the same as your home disaster kit which is a CORE COMPETENCY
a backpack, blue or black in color
a pair of work gloves.
Poncho: clear or yellow
Small Penlight or Flashlight
Box of gallon sized "Ziplock" bags. (to place items in for extra protection)
Eye protection
Ear protection
Powerbar or similar food item
Water bottle or canteen
Bandage scissors
BDU Boonie Hat - NAVY BLUE
Medications for personal use
Non-latex gloves
M65 field jacket (a winter coat) - NAVY BLUE
Winter hat
Winter gloves

DO NOT RUSH OFF AND BUY A LOT OF THE ITEMS ON THE LIST! Take your time and determine what you need based on your experiences and the experiences of others in the MRC. Network with your fellow volunteers to determine what will be useful, and discover other items which aren't on the list but which may be useful.
